WHY STUDY AT CHIANG MAI UNIVERSITY DENTAL SCHOOL

            At Chiang Mai University Dental School, our graduates will benefit from continuous innovation in basic, clinical or community-based research. Staff are highly qualified and many have provided expertise to various national committees. Our Dental School is a referral centre for patients in northern Thailand.

 

                      


NETWORKS

            We have collaborative teaching and research links with universities in Europe. Australia and Japan. Faculty members are examiners for the Thai Dental Board Examination.

 

PHILOSOPHY OF THE PROGRAM

            A focus of the program is on the production of academic professionals who have in-depth knowledge in oral health sciences and researchers who are capable of conducting high quality research as well as applying new knowledge in the direction suited for the development of the country. In addition, the virtue, morality and creativity of the graduates are emphazised.

 

CURRICULUM/PROGRAM CONTENTS

            This international graduate program is classified as a research degree program (Type 1), and is open to applicants who hold either a Bachelor's degree or a Master's degree. Students with a Bachelor's degree are required to fulfill a total 72 credits for thesis work. Those with a Master's degree must earn a total of 48 credi for thesis work. A Ph.D. candidate is also'required to publish his/her research paper(s) in recognized technical journals.

 

 

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAM:

            1 To generate high-level academic personnel, capable of conducting high-quality dental research which leads to new knowledge in Dentistry and the development of dental services.

            2. To train students in the generic skills of scientific research i.e. experimental design. data analysis, literature survey, communication skills, teamwork and computer skills.

            3. To train students in research methods and practice by performing well-supervised, high-quality research projects at the forefront of international science in well-equipped laboratories.

 

APPLICANT QUALIFICATIONS

1. Curriculum Type 1.1 for candidate with

Master degree

            1) The applicant must have completed a Master’s degree in Dentistry or related field approved by the Graduate Administrative Committee, and have received GPA for Master degree greater or equal to 3.25, and

            2) Have good quality research work and have presented or published at least one research paper at an academic conference at the national or international level, and

            3) Have an adequate proficiency in English (TOEFL soo or equivalent or IELTS overall ban 5.5 or equivalent ). The test should be taken within 2 years prior to the submission of an application, and

            4) the candidate should have a dental license.

            5) In a case that may not comply with this qualification, the Graduate Administrative Committee will have a full authority to justify

acceptance.

 

2. Curriculum Type 1.2 for Candidate with Bachelor degree

            1) The applicant must have completed a bachelor's degree in Dentistry with GPA 3.25 or above, and

            2) Should have a dental license, and

            3) Have an adequate proficiency in English (TOEFL 500 or equivalent or IELTS overall ban 5.5 or equivalent). The test should be taken within 2 years prior to the submission of an application.

            4) In a case that may not comply with this qualification, the Graduate Administrative Committee will have a full authority to justify acceptance.

 

 

SELECTION PROCESS

            Should be in accordance with the Chiang Mai University Announcement on Admission in each academic year and also comprise the application form review and/or written admission examination result and/or interview.
